How to Choose Lighting for a Warehouse

The lighting in a warehouse must have two functions: to provide safety to all those workers who routinely use the warehouse on a daily basis, and to increase productivity. There are a number of accidents that take place in warehouses every day, and having the right lighting warehouse can help prevent these unfortunate accidents. Here are some tips to help you choose the best lighting for your warehouse.

Choose the Source Of Light Carefully

The first step in installing the right lighting warehouse is to choose the right kind of light source. The three main source of lighting for warehouses are HID lights, fluorescent lights, and LED lights. Although cheap to install, HID lights have a high lumen depreciation rate, take some time to achieve maximum brightness, consume more amount of energy, and are not compatible with motion sensor technology.

Fluorescent lighting warehouse consume less energy than HID lights, but have a smaller lifespan. They are not environment friendly because they contain mercury. They flicker and do not work with light dimmers.

LED lighting warehouse are very versatile as well as energy efficient. They last really long and don’t take time to heat up or cool down. They are the best option for your lighting warehouse, and although they are initially costlier, they require very little maintenance.

Space Out the Light Fixtures Appropriately

Spacing the lighting warehouse is a very important aspect of setting up lighting in your warehouse. They should not be placed too close to each other, as this will cause hot spots and glares. If they are placed too far apart, there are bound to be dark places in your warehouse. Consult a lighting warehouse expert to figure out the right spacing for your warehouse.
