The Most Important Things to Consider When Selecting LED Batten Lights

In the last few years, with the advancement of technology, LED batten lights have come a long way with many different options as opposed to traditional fluorescent battens. LED battens are slim and minimalist but provide the same amount of brightness. There are a few things to consider before buying your Philips LED battens which we will outline below.

IP Rating

The IP rating is an indicator to understand if the LED batten light is meant for use indoors or outdoors. If you are going to install it outdoors, then look for an IP65 rating which will protect your fixture from water and dust. This could also be used indoors as the high rating ensures the fixture is protected from the elements. However, for indoor use, IP20 rated lights will suffice.

Lumens

The visible light emitted by an LED batten light is measured in a unit called Lumens. This is similar to the unit of watts used to measure the brightness of traditional bulbs. Traditional bulbs are available in a range of 0 Watts to 100 Watts and high-intensity 250-Watt lights are available as well for different applications such as heating. Since the brightness of LED lights is measured in lumens and traditional lights in watts, a direct comparison is not easy. Manufacturers like Philips these days do display both, lumens and watts, on the packaging for easy decision making.

Coloured Bulbs

Philips LED batten lights are available in a range of colours. The harsh white light emitted by traditional fluorescent lights were sometimes uncomfortable, but LED lights have come to the rescue. Warm yellow-white, whiter white and cool bluish-white are some of the options available to choose from. There are also options for having all three colour options in the same fixture. You can check the packaging instructions to understand how you can choose the colour you desire. The colour is determined by the temperature shown on the Kelvin scale. A high Kelvin number denotes bluer light and a lower number denotes a warmer yellow light.

LED batten lights are here to stay. Be smart and invest in a durable product from the house of Philips that will last and enhance the ambience of your premises for years to come.
